The "Island Tour" ... Sailing from Premuda via Silba to Ist ...

Today was the hottest and most humid day of the week. As a warm frontal system past our region, (how more warmer could it become?? we asked ourselves...)  we had some sun, clouds, bit of rain, extreme humidity and no way to escape, other than swimming. Just sitting still made the sweat run of your back.... To make things even more attractive, there was little rain so now and then, so we had to close the cabin windows....... At the end of the day things suddenly changed and we had dry air and some what less high temperatures..... The "locals" told us, that the cities were having great difficulties with power- and- water supply and this was the hottest period since 100 years !! But I think this not different from any where else in Europe at the moment....... Also we have to make sure we do not run short of water, as the islands are without harbour supply at this moment.....

Regardless of all this inconvenience, we enjoyed the small harbor town and the local young lady who was earning some extra money by baking pastries and fresh bread and selling this to the boats in the bay.... I am not sure the local super market likes here as much as we did :-)

The title is already revealing a little bit our plan for today.... we made a nice trip around the island here. Round noon we made a stop at the island Silba. The kids decide to look for refreshment in the water, the adults for refreshment at the shore.....

We already located a nice bar, but first we needed to do some shopping in the local "supermarkets".........

Not much to buy, but actually all we need, fresh fruit, vegetables and the very nice raw ham, we learned to appreciate so much here.....

After all this hard work, it was good to take a rest and some more.........

The tour continued crossing many small islands. What a great view and nice tour....

My dear brother "Piet" asked for some pictures from the interior of the boat....

So here we go !!

Actually we are very content with the available space. Only the navigation corner could have had a bit more space...
On the pictures you can see the power converter; 12 Volt DC to 230 Volt AC. Without this handy device, you would not have been able to read this page and we would have to find a place to charge batteries at restaurants etc... Great recommendation for every one who lives in a 12 Volt environment :-).

Later that afternoon we arrived at "Ist", small little village with a huge bay, we had to move our boat 2 times. Thirst time because the water was so shallow, that when the wind was drifting, we hit a large rock under the water. Very inconvenient.... The second time, because we were in the way for a ferry to manouver....

At the end of the day we counted 52 boats lying in the bay. This is exclusive the ones in the marina..... We were told by the man collecting the local taxes (aprox 6 Euro) that the last few weeks were shear madness. Next week, as the Italians are gone, things should return to "normal" .........

Any way, with our superb rubber boat we had no issue getting ashore... When we left we clearly noticed the change in weather system (more wind and dry air...) and were rewarded with a romantic sunset behind our Sun Odyssey......

Ofcourse we had made reservations and enjoyed a nice pizza diner with view over the bay......

Couldn't have been a nicer end of the day.........

Tomorrow we will take a longer tour in the direction of Pula and make a stop at the Island "Susak" .... Every one tells us this is a sandy island, so lets see. So far we only encountered rocks......
