Great sailing tour from Ist to Susak......

The whole week we have been sailing mostly a course south to south east from Pula, moving along the islands. So now we had to turn to sail back in 2 day trip to Pula. Just in between there is the small island Susak, so this is a logical choice to take as "way point" back....

We anticipated sailing before the wind or at least more than "half" as the whole week we had wind from the South. Guess what? With the frontal system change the wind changed to 330 degrees (north west) !!! Exactly our course to Susak. So again we had to do a lot of cruising, which we had no problem with, because the sailing is much more fun so !! The total trip was now 40 miles ....... We started at aprox 12:00 when the wind picked up and we arrived just before darkness on the island to occupy the last spot in the marina.... great sailing day ......

Before noon we were already out on the sea, but the wind had not picked up yet, so we just hanged out, waiting for some action.... enjoying the environment....

Finally the wind picked up and we started with an average speed of 4,5 knots which was nice and relaxed sailing...

As me moved on, Anne was taking here beauty sleep .....

Glad we are with the great rubber boat and powerful engine, we decided to use it to take some pictures from the boat in full action....

I went out with Robert-Jan and a plastic bag with all the cameras taking some nice shots, whilst having fun with boat, speeding over open sea...

The atmosphere was again great and Erik and Anne were trying to get some shadow from the burning sun !!

In the afternoon Willemien and Paul baked pancakes again on my special request :-)

After 15:00 the wind was getting stronger and stronger and finally we were running on great sailing speed, aprox 6 knots and this lasted for the rest of the day. We considered this as the best SAILING day of the week.....

Susak is a very small island and is running more on day tourists than other. Only a handful sailing boats were lying in the very small marina. The town has also very little facilities. The restaurant we found was not one of the best as you can tell from Paul's expression..... But still we had great fun :-)

No pictures of town and marina as we arrived after sunset so I will post tomorrow....
