Heading back to Pula and visit of Susak......

Yesterday evening late we arrived at the island Susak. Therefore we did some exploring in the morning. We heard that this island is called the "sandy island". Well not for its beaches by the way, but for its geological history.... round 100 Mio year ago, this whole sea we are sailing these days was an extension of the "Po area" in Italy and this island was formed by sediments and sand blown together  by the wind. A dune island you could say. And actually it was correct, we always see rock as bottom and hills, but here every thing was sandy.......

The kids decided to stay at the boat doing some other activities, whilst we, the oldies, were taking a stroll through town....At the right a nice picture of our boat, actually lying at the entrance of the marina !!! Just 5 meters were left over as entry now ....

A nice overview of the "marina" an the harbor front...... Susak is clearly not a modern tourist town. But it does carry some very interesting rustically elements !!

We enjoyed walking through the quiet town and its small streets......... great atmosphere !!!

This was the absolute HAMMER !! We noticed that EVERY one owned a wheel chariot.... this seems to have developed to a local habit and THE way of goods transportation !! Streetnumbers were painted on them to keep them apart and we saw one with "TAXI" on it. You could rent this service if you need transportation of goods .........

We climbed the small hill behind town and were rewarded with a great panoramic view !!! At the back you can recognize the marina and our boat....

Walking back to the beach, we came through a street where a long water hose was rolled out, but it was leaking like hell and all the water we still do not have, was spilled ..... The owners of the house at the pictures at least seemed to have no problem with the water supply....

Two funny shots: The local bus system and a left alone "vehicle" at the towns plaza.......

This is the main street leading from city center to the marina... Notice the road from stamped dirt....

As we were almost blocking the entrance, we left relatively early and had breakfast at open see. At that time the wind had not picked up yet, so we had al time for a peaceful breakfast, prepared by the youngsters.......

We continued after 12:00 with a great wind and we could sail sharp at the wind, almost directly to our goal, a small bay 1 mile before Pula, so we miss the busy marina tonight and avoid a "vacation is over" feeling !!!

Our crew today was doing a great sailing job ;-) trying to save energy for the trip of aprox 20 miles.....

The bay was very busy when we arrived, but after 20:00 most of  the boats disappeared, so we figured out this bay must have had a lot of day tourists..... No problem with us, as now we had space enough to anchor at a nice spot.....

And for the last time we took the boat to the beach and enjoyed a truly great meal with fish, grilled meats and great salads.......

Vacation is almost over, tomorrow we will bring the boat back tot the base marina of Sunsail and head back home again !!!

We had a great time, learned a lot about the Croatian coast and people and survived without sunburn :-)
